After completing the previous Resource: Descriptive Statistics, address the following questions in your post (2 points per question):
- What kinds of information might be missed if you only compare averages, or means, without taking into account standard deviations? In other words, what is the value of the standard deviation to understanding the data?
- The video used rainfall and restaurant sales as examples of data that we can find useful in everyday life. Come up with another example of data that we might use or encounter in our society. And tell us: is this data discrete or continuous? What might we learn by looking at the descriptive statistics for this dataset?
- Is there anything that is still confusing to you about the calculation and reporting of descriptive statistics? Provide any lingering questions or thoughts on this topic.
